How we calculate

Lost wages: $2,000/week × up to 12 weeks (cap $24,000).
Mileage: $0.67/mile (IRS medical 2026), round trip.
Hotel: $150/night (conservative estimate of mid-range hotel near medical centers).
Per diem (meals + misc): $75/day of absence.
Dependents: $80/day of absence.
Pets: $40/day of absence.
Total combined cap: $30,000 (no income cap).
