A story worth hearing
Finding a donor with an NKR microsite
How telling your story can open doors you didn’t expect.

What it’s about
Crystal Ramos needed a kidney and decided to tell her story on a page of her own, an NKR microsite. What happened next wasn’t magic: people read it, understood it, and took a step. This is for you if you’re waiting for a donor and don’t know how to ask for help without feeling like you’re begging.
What you take with you
- Asking for help isn’t begging. It’s giving people the chance to know you exist and to understand your story.
- A microsite turns a hard conversation into a clear page you can share without explaining yourself over and over.
- A lot of people around you want to help. The problem is almost never willingness. It’s that they don’t know how to take the first step.
Why I’m sharing this
If you’re on dialysis or on the waitlist, this video is worth more than any advice. It shows that asking is also a way of serving, because your story lets someone decide with real information.
A personal note
What this video leaves me with
I was on dialysis. I know what it’s like to stare at the ceiling at 3 AM thinking “who would want to give me a kidney?” Crystal did what I didn’t know how to do in time: she put her story where people could read it without pressure. If you’re waiting for a donor, don’t stay quiet. Asking for help isn’t begging — it’s giving someone the chance to say yes.
