Dimar’s Journey:
A Humble Plea for A Second Chance at Life

Let me share with you a story from the deepest wellsprings of my heart. At 52 years young, I found myself at a crossroads no one anticipates – an unrelenting battle with a disease that threatened to strip away the passions that give my life vibrancy and color.
You see, I am a storyteller at my core. Filmmaking, photography, composing music, editing videos – these are my languages for conveying the unspoken narratives that make our world so wondrous. Hiking rocky trails and immersing myself in diverse cultures provides the inspiration that fuels my creative spirit. To aid others by optimizing businesses through data science brings me immense fulfillment.
These lifeblood passions are what make my soul sing. Yet now, they are perpetually overshadowed by the taxing reality of my condition – end-stage renal disease. A dialysis machine has become my tethered companion, protecting my life force but confining my spirit.
Still, rays of hope pierce through the difficulties. My family’s laughter and the simple beauties we share form the bedrock upon which I stand. Their love empowers me to not just survive this odyssey, but to thrive despite it all.
So I turn to you, dear friend, with an humble yet fervent plea – if you or someone near you finds it in your heart to take the profound step of becoming a living kidney donor, you could pour new life into my story. Your act of generosity would not just save a life, but uncage a soul desperate to embrace every moment.
I fully understand the weightiness of this ask. But if the whispers of your conscience urge you to further explore this possibility, I welcome you to examine the pathways and resources I’ve provided. Know that even your consideration of this life-altering gift fills me with immense gratitude.
My creative embers still smolder, yearning to be fanned into an ardent blaze. With you, I could reclaim the freedom to freeze life’s fleeting spells in my viewfinder, pursue nature’s invigorating trails, and reignite purposeful work that improves countless lives.
I share this story not just for myself, but for all those facing similar battles for a second chance at the life they once knew. Your empathy can rewrite destinies.

Why I Need a Kidney

An Unexpected Intermission
COVID-19’s impact led to my diagnosis of end-stage renal disease, drastically altering the rhythms of my life. Previously, coding languages orchestrated my days, music composition allowed deepest emotional expression, and filmmaking let me script powerful narratives. These creative realms were my stage.
However, peritoneal dialysis, now required 12 hours daily, acts like a storm crashing in – dictating when creativity can flow and when muted. My universe constricted to the sounds of medical equipment. Coding, composing, filmmaking – all became casualties struggling against treatment’s relentless regime. Yet dialysis is also a blessing, keeping me alive while constraining artistic pursuits.
I envision a future immersed again in coding vibrant applications, composing original scores, editing films to unfurl new worlds – no longer crowded out by dialysis machines. Although the cadences disrupted, creativity’s music plays on.
A Resonant Calling
From a data perspective, over 35.5 million Americans have chronic kidney disease (CDC, 2023). Each year, around 100,000+ are on the transplant waitlist (HRSA). Living donor kidney transplants have better outcomes, such as more prolonged graft survival (NKF).
You could enable my creative renaissance if you want to explore living kidney donation. Your generous gift could restore the coding languages, recording studios, and editing suites that give artistic breath to my life.
I understand the gravity but also the profound impact – your empathy provides an instrument to renew vibrancy and reclaim purpose through code, composition, and cinema. Statistics only hint at the human story yours could author.
